The five series that preceded Days Between were investigations of my past and inquiries into my future. In this series, as I faced serious transitions and challenges in my life, I shifted my attention to my present.
As people in my life departed, I found that a direct human presence became less evident in the imagery that I was making. Portraits, which had comprised a large percentage of my work, became less prevalent. What remained in the photographs were mainly traces of that presence, an essence or shadow of my past.
